Howard Hughes Had a Point

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

In the gym today I go into the bathroom and somebody has peed all over the seat. I think maybe if I have to clean off one more toilet seat in one more bathroom, anywhere, I am going to lose it. Women's room or unisex bathroom, it doesn't matter. The world is full of people who think it's ok to pee on seats and walk away.

This particular bathroom is unisex. I'm washing my hands, and a guy walks out of the stall next to mine and out the door without washing his hands. He is going to go out there and touch all the machines and weights. I try to stop my mind. I think maybe I will lose it sooner than I thought.

I have always wanted to start a sticker campaign in women's restrooms where I printed out hundreds and hundreds of stickers that said:

"If everybody sat down when they peed, no one would ever sit in pee."

Then stick them on every bathroom I ever visit.

And, ew! to the dude that didn't wash his hands.

Excellent sticker idea. I would be on your volunteer corps.

If you've managed to pee on the seat, the least you could do is wipe it clean before you leave the cubicle...although that does mean the next person just wouldn't know that they were sitting on residual pee. Hm.

I also don't get people who don't flush toilets - when the flush is plainly in working order.

I know, right? This is one of the tiny, inconsequential things that wears you down year after year after year, eroding your mind and sapping your will to go on. Sometimes I think if we could take care of dumb stuff like this, the serious things would take care of themselves.

I think your story is a good analogy for American foreign policy: the guy who pees all over the seat and then leaves without even washing his hands.

I thought of you the other day. I sat on a toilet seat at the gym with pee on it. Lovely. I was like, sh*t Sfrajett, I am so feeling your pain right now. Just thought you should know.

Ha ha you see, camicao, it will undo us all! As Dr, M points out, it's just the micro version of the macro bullshit we are forced to endure these days. No wonder so many people are depressed. Sitting in someone else's pee is a real drag.

Sfrajett- maybe we are all feeling detached and losing our capacity for benignity. so what do we do about it? how do we get people to re-connect and care?

i don't have an answer. i can only offer my friendship and kindness and hope it becomes infectious. i also vote, but that hasn't been making a difference :-) -Gregg

maybe voting is like praying, and you have to do it for a while before it makes a difference. just a thought.

I don't know about you, but my mom always taught me to NOT pee on my hands. Moreover, considering you use your hands all day and touch things that are covered in germs, not to mention shaking peoples hands that are also dirty and covered in germs. However, most people keep their penis tucked nicely into their underwear, which, most likely were washed prior to putting them on. Doesn't it make sense, then, that your hands are much dirtier than your penis? Following that logic wouldn't it make much more sense to wash your hands PRIOR to going to the bathroom (considering you are a man and only peeing)? You didn't mention anything about washing your hands before you peed, you dirty bastard. Now your penis is full of germs and as soon as you grab that door handle to open the door your hands will be once again covered in germs.
